This policy sets out how Freelance Information Company Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15550258 ("FIC", "we") takes the environment into account in the way we work. It covers our consultancy services, our website and the Client Workspace. It describes what we do now and what we commit to; it does not claim more than that.
How we work today
- Our projects run online. Each one is planned, tracked and delivered in the client's own Client Workspace, and the deliverables are digital: reports, dashboards and files to download.
- Calls are held by video. The free 30-minute call, and calls about a project, take place online.
- Our website and the Client Workspace are hosted by Amazon Web Services in its London region.
- Files that clients send us are used only for their project and deleted on request.
What we have not done
We have not measured our carbon footprint, we do not offset emissions, and we hold no environmental certification. If any of this changes, we will say so on this page, with the date.
Our commitments
- Digital by default. We will keep delivering our services online and hold meetings by video unless a client asks to meet in person.
- Travel. When a project needs travel, we will choose public transport where it is practical.
- Equipment. We will keep computers and other equipment in use for as long as they work well, repair before replacing, and recycle electronic equipment through proper collection routes.
- Data. We will keep only the data a project needs, and delete client files when they are no longer needed or when the client asks.
- Suppliers. When we choose or review suppliers such as hosting and software, we will take their published environmental commitments into account alongside price, quality and security.
- Honest claims. We will make environmental claims only when we can support them, following the Competition and Markets Authority's Green Claims Code.
Through our work
Some of our services look at the same things that drive waste: our Supply Chain Intelligence Review finds excess and obsolete stock, and our spend and supplier reviews show where money goes and how suppliers perform. If a client wants environmental measures included in that work, we will discuss what their data can show before we agree the scope.
Review
We will review this policy at least once a year and when the way we work changes. Questions about it are welcome through our contact page.
